The firm is committed to designing sustainable, efficient and environmentally responsible projects; SBJGroup/Andi Pepper Interior Design currently have several LEED Certified professionals on staff. We were responsible for the installation of the first large flat plate solar collection system in New York City in 1980 for The Printing House project, as part of the adaptive reuse of a former printing plant into new residential apartments. A HUD grant covered most of the cost of the installation. The firm received one of the earliest energy conservation awards for that project. SBJGroup and Andi Pepper Interior Design are researching and evaluating on an ongoing basis new sustainable products that meet LEED requirements. Our firm currently has several projects that have been awarded or are in the process of LEED Certification, including The Edge, a recently completed thousand-unit, mixed-income project on the Williamsburg waterfront, which has become the largest residential project in this region to achieve a LEED Gold Certification. Other LEED certified projects include Village Green (311 East 11th Street NYC), Chelsea Green (147 West 21st Street NYC), Emerald Green (320 West 38th Street NYC), and Hotel X (Toronto, Ontario).
