The Sky Room, which boasts 360 degree views of Manhattan and the Hudson River from the city’s highest rooftop lounge, aims to take New York City nightlife to the next level. Occupying the 33rd and 34th Floor of the Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites Times Square, the bi-level ultra lounge transports guests to a high energy oasis atop 40th Street and offers five distinct spaces: the Times Square Lounge, the Cube balcony, the Private Salon, the North terrace with its retractable roof, and the South Terrace with its private cabanas.

Combining unique design and a blend of elegance and comfort, the 5,000 square-foot venue is inspired by its surrounding environment. To unify the space, the coffered ceiling featuring LED lighting that serves as a stylized abstraction of Times Square – mimicking an aerial view of the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue.

For the entrance space, the team drew inspiration from photographs of streaming taillights in moving traffic, which is reflected in the colored light installation of the backlit bar. The bar is positioned so that the unobstructed view of the NYC skyline serves as a breathtaking backdrop. These elements aim to create a firm link between the Sky Room and Times Square. The challenge was to unify all the various spaces spanning over two buildings. That challenge was met by using the pulsating rhythm of Times Square as inspiration.

The interior and exterior spaces of the venue are thoughtfully designed, incorporating exciting and eccentric elements – a magenta hue that appears throughout the lounge in various scenes from the ceiling to the uniforms, the goose neck lights in the bathrooms, the expansive metallic finished tile floor on the 1st level – to provide an enhanced nightlife experience sure to leave a memorable impression on anyone who steps through the Sky Room’s elevator doors.

The north terrace on the 34th floor provides a comfortable environment all year round with a fully retractable glass roof cover and panoramic glass walls, offering stunning views of the Times Square area. One standout highlight of the venue is the South Terrace on the 2nd level, which features illuminated furniture and flush lit floor tiles amidst a lush landscape, set up to offer a luxurious space where guests can truly enjoy being in the heart of Manhattan, with views of the Hudson River and the Empire State Building.
