750,000 gsf
Located 1.5 miles southwest of downtown Toronto and overlooking Lake Ontario, the 750,000 square foot convention hotel is positioned on an exceptional site at Exhibition Place, Canada's largest convention venue, and adjacent to both the Beanfield Centre and the Enercare Centre. The limestone base of the building relates to heights and materials of the surroundings and houses a conference center, sports club, retail, ballrooms and reception, a spa, two restaurants, a cinematheque, green roofs, and 440 underground parking spaces. Rising from the base is an architectural precast concrete panel and glass tower housing 406 guestrooms. The dramatic rooftop, a three level 10,000 sf venue open to the public, cantilevers above the tower. It includes two bars, a hospitality suite, an indoor/outdoor pool, a massive inclined lawn, and offers framed panoramic views of the lake and the Toronto skyline. The design was generated by the dynamic interplay and juxtaposition of these distinct program elements thereby bringing all-day life to an area that until now was reserved for convention and exposition spaces.
