A proposed 6-story charter school for grades 1-5 consisting of 53,000 sf. The school is designed around an efficient classroom layout maximizing the use of daylighting available to the project’s corner site. Other spaces include a rooftop recreation space, an indoor gymnasium, and a cafeteria. Special consideration is given to the school’s lobby and gymnasium which will serve as a performance venue and community space. The exterior envelope accommodated specific site environmental requirements and met enhanced energy efficiency targets.
