Manhattan Avenue Apartments located in Greenburgh, NY is an existing senior affordable housing development that will be demolished in order to construct the new project, one 3-story building with on-site parking. The new building includes 70 apartments and large common areas for the senior tenants. It is constructed of 156 wood-framed modular units manufactured by Simplex Industries in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The project is developed by Georgica Green Ventures in conjunction with the Greenburgh Housing Authority and New York State Homes and Community Renewal program.
For this project, Stephen B. Jacobs Group commissioned photographer, Christopher Payne, to document the construction process in the factory. Payne specializes in architectural and industrial photography. Trained as an architect, he is fascinated by design, assembly, and the built form. His recent work celebrates American craftsmanship.
